Dr. Zawadi Lemayian provides expert testimony and economic analysis in matters involving economic damages and finance, accounting, and valuation issues.

She has testified in depositions and arbitrations. She has also been a guest lecturer on a valuation course to MBA students and has published and refereed peer-reviewed and practitioner journal articles.

Dr. Lemayian uses frameworks and tools from the fields of finance, accounting, and economics and combines them with extensive industry and professional experience. She has expertise in several areas, including finance (security analysis, corporate transactions, financial analysis, and valuation of companies) and accounting (measuring and analyzing profitability, determining fair value, analyzing the degree of choice permissible in internal financial reporting, and assessing material misrepresentation in company filings). She also has expertise in additional areas, including the assessment of economic damages, evaluation of antitrust claims, cross border tax strategies, and minority shareholder oppression.

Dr. Lemayian’s industry expertise includes natural resources, public utilities, consumer products, entertainment, social media, telecommunications, manufacturing, financial services, transportation, and technology. She has advised clients in court matters in the U.S., Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and Malaysia; as well as in domestic and international arbitrations (e.g., UNCITRAL, PCA, ICSID, and AAA).

Dr. Lemayian speaks English and Swahili. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Science (Finance track), a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and a PhD in Management Science (Accounting track), all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Prior to consulting, Dr. Lemayian was an assistant professor at the Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis where she conducted research into accounting and financial economics and taught courses in the undergraduate and MBA programs. Her recent research focuses on board diversity and includes, “Is a Foot in the Door Enough? Pay Gaps at the Top of Corporate America” and “The Effects of Mandating Information on Diversity in Proxy Statements: Evidence from Regulation S-K.”
