Samuel Zimmermann is an associate principal in the European Competition Practice. He has advised merging parties in numerous merger reviews by the European Commission and national competition authorities, including INEOS/Certain Assets of TotalEnergies, BP/Iberdrola (JV), Ali Group/Welbilt and United Group/Wind Hellas.
In addition to merger reviews, Samuel frequently supports firms in the licensing and litigation of standard essential patents. He has advised several smartphone OEMs, a set-top box supplier, and a smart metering OEM in SEP-related licensing negotiations and litigations. He has also co-authored several policy reports on SEP licensing and surveyed firms in several EU countries, the UK, and the US on their experience in the licensing of SEPs.
Before joining CRA, Samuel has completed an MSc in Economics from the University of Mannheim and interned with the European Commission’s Chief Economist Team (DG Competition).
