Philip Kalmus has advised in many antitrust cases in jurisdictions throughout Europe. Cartel cases include pesticides, sugar, safety locking system, thermal systems, automotive bearings, automotive OEMs, acoustically relevant parts, beer, elevator, detergent, envelopes. Abuse of dominance cases include dvs v. DHL Deutsche Post (Germany), BT / Verizon / Colt v. Proximus (Belgium), Base v. Proximus (Belgium), Polish mobile networks, German TV advertising, the Cocoa Futures market. Non-competition litigation work includes damages cases related to diesel claims, damages related to mobile infrastructure access. His merger work includes several mobile mergers throughout Europe as well as other industries and jurisdictions and he has worked in regulatory and auction projects in the telecoms industry.
Philip Kalmus has special industry expertise in the telecoms and automotive industries. He holds a BA Economics from Cambridge University, MSc Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, and a PhD Economics from the London School of Economics. His publications include “Ökonomische Grundlagen der Schadensberechnung” in Kamann, Ohlhoff, Völcker (eds., 2019, second edition expected 2024) Kartellverfahren und Kartellprozess, C.H.Beck. In July 2024 Philip was appointed to the OFCOM Spectrum Advisory Board.
