Luiz Alberto Esteves is a consultant to CRA’s Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice in Brazil.
He was CADE’s (Brazilian competition authority) chief economist between 2014 and 2016. At CADE he was head of the merger simulations unit; conduct effects unit (cartel screening, cartel overcharge price estimates, and optimal cartel fines); evaluation unit (ex-post economic evaluation of the competition policy enforcement). He was also responsible for providing analytical information to support the Board of Commissioners decisions on mergers and ac-quisitions, cartels, and unilateral conducts cases.
He is also a professor of Economics at the Federal University of Paraná. Dr. Esteves holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Siena, Italy.
