Eric Nierenberg rejoined CRA in 2023 and is part of the firm’s management team. He brings expertise in corporate strategy, finance, and investment management. Previously the Chief Strategy Officer at MassPRIM, the Massachusetts state pension fund, Dr. Nierenberg led the firm’s efforts in asset allocation, investment strategy and research, risk management, and portfolio completion strategies. He also designed and implemented innovative programs in ESG and diversity. Dr. Nierenberg has built investment portfolios across all asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, private equity, hedge funds, and real assets. Prior to MassPRIM, Dr. Nierenberg was an equity portfolio manager at LMCG Investments and Independence Investments. He started his career as an analyst in CRA’s Finance Practice.
Dr. Nierenberg is a Board Director of the Hydro-Québec Pension Fund with fiduciary oversight of alternative investments on the Hydro-Québec separate account platform. As a member of the Board he approves the hiring of investment managers and reviews investment and operational due diligence findings.
Dr. Nierenberg is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the International Business School of Brandeis University where he teaches graduate-level courses in options and derivatives, behavioral economics and finance, investments, and portfolio management. He is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award.
