David K. Sandberg, FSA, MAAA, CERA, is a senior consultant within the Insurance Economics Practice of CRA.
He has more than 35 years of experience in the life, pension, and health insurance industries. He has also had a significant role in addressing the national and international professional and public policy issues of insurance through leadership positions at the American Academy of Actuaries (Academy), the Society of Actuaries (SOA), and the International Actuarial Association (IAA).
Mr. Sandberg’s life and annuity background includes product development, financial reporting, risk management, legal and compliance issues, and emerging accounting, capital and regulatory standards. Additional responsibilities have included US GAAP and statutory reporting, product management and investment strategies, experience analysis and reinsurance. He also has been responsible for the valuation of individual health insurance policies and supporting the valuation of pension liabilities.
Prior to joining CRA, Mr. Sandberg was Vice President and Corporate Actuary at Allianz Life Insurance of North America; Vice President & Appointed Actuary at LifeUSA Insurance Company; and held actuarial positions with Lone Star Life Insurance, Dorth Coombs Insurance Agency, and Southwestern Life Insurance. He has also written extensively in professional publications and interacted with and presented to numerous regulatory bodies. He is a past president of the American Academy of Actuaries and a current Board member of the Society of Actuaries.
