David Freskos is a principal in the Forensic Services Practice of CRA. For over 15 years, he has specialized in providing expert digital forensics and e-discovery consulting services to legal teams and corporations in support of high stakes intellectual property theft investigations, antitrust and merger investigations, litigations, and all other types of matters.
He regularly provides court sworn affidavits and declarations while working on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants and has also provided expert trial testimony including in 2022 on behalf of Vanessa Bryant et al in their suit against the County of Los Angeles that resulted in a $31MM judgement awarded to the plaintiffs. David opined on the topic of destroying electronic evidence and violating fundamental digital forensic principles.
David has also been at the forefront of providing cloud-based data collection services from emerging data sources for his clients. His efforts have helped develop defensible standards to preserve data from collaborative and social media sites such as Slack, Facebook, Teams, Instagram and Google Workspace for investigations and e-discovery purposes.
Prior to joining CRA, David was Managing Director of Digital Forensics & Investigations in the Chicago office of FTI Consulting’s Technology segment where he co-led the U.S. based Forensics team. David also previously worked for Navigant Consulting as a Digital Forensics consultant in their Disputes & Investigations Practice. He holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems along with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and Operations Decision Technology from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. David has earned certifications as an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) and Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) for complex computer and mobile phone analysis and has authored articles and whitepapers on digital forensics, trade secret theft and complex data collections.
