Chris Bakewell specializes in the valuation and licensing of intellectual property (IP) rights.
Chris assists companies in developing competitive advantages through IP and is often requested to serve as an expert witness regarding damages, licensing, and financial issues. His career encompasses senior roles in corporate finance and business development, providing him with extensive first-hand licensing and contract negotiation experience. Prior to CRA, Chris founded and led a leading intellectual property advisory practice.
He has testified as a damages expert in global forums, demonstrating significant expertise in patent infringement; breach of contract; trade secret misappropriation; trademark and copyright infringement; injunctive relief; name, image and likeness (NIL) and rights of publicity; and international trade, including analyses of domestic industry, remedy, and bond. In patent infringement matters, Chris has analyzed various forms of lost profits and reasonable royalty damages. He has worked with standards essential patents (SEPs) and evaluated economic issues related to fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing. Chris has also evaluated disgorgement and actual harm in other IP disputes. He has developed complex damages models and performed statistical and other data analyses.
