Dr. Balcárcel is a principal in CRA’s Finance Practice. She has over 15 years of experience as an economic consultant working on a broad range of litigation, regulatory investigations, and other consulting matters.
She has extensive experience consulting with clients on matters involving business and asset valuation, merger and acquisition disputes, calculation of economic damages, and other financial analyses.
She specializes in applying principles of economics and finance to complex litigation matters including securities litigation, appraisal actions, commercial disputes, and anti-trust litigation. In securities litigation matters, she works on all phases of the litigation, including class certification, discovery, calculation of damages, and settlement analyses related to Rule 10-b5 and Section 11 matters. Her work spans many industries, including retail, banking and financial services, health care, technology, real estate, energy, and other consumer goods and services, among others.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Balcárcel was an assistant professor of finance at the University of Dayton. She has taught courses on international finance and corporate finance. Her research areas included corporate finance, international finance, and venture capital investments. While in Uruguay, Dr. Balcárcel worked for Bell Sygma (now Bell Canada).
Dr. Balcárcel is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
