The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is not the most common executive-level role, nor is it the best defined. Nonetheless, where it exists, the role is among the most valuable and influential in the C-suite, often acting as the CEO’s right hand.
The need for such a role is growing – and so is the expectation. Given the current business environment, the need for the Chief Strategy Officer to add value has never been greater. The question of how the CSO can do this in practice, however, is challenging. Yet, despite challenges, CSOs can make meaningful, long-lasting contributions to a company’s performance.
