In this article contributed to The Globe and Mail, Adonis Yatchew discusses the state of Ontario’s electricity industry in response to the Auditor-General’s report which identified several issues. Yatchew suggests the government endow the Ontario Energy Board with increased independence and authority to regulate the electricity sector, noting that the intrinsic tensions created by “intertwining policy-making with regulation and implementation” are exacerbated in an industry where assets are long-lived.
