Utilities generally weather recessions better than free-market businesses, however utilities are not immune to the lingering difficulties brought on by the pandemic. While these challenges have waned, utilities now face the task of managing through the energy transition and refocusing utility strategy.
In this paper, the authors identify four areas that utilities may need to attend to post-pandemic: strategic planning, financial planning and risk management, customer engagement, and employee engagement.
