CRA is a proud sponsor of the Institute that has been attended by leading federal and state judges and prosecutors, law enforcement officials, defense attorneys, corporate in-house counsel, and members of the academic community since its establishment.
Kris Swanson is on the planning committee and a panelist during the session titled “Accounting in Fraud Cases.”
By tradition, this well-attended and popular panel will address the use of accounting experts in all phases of criminal investigation and litigation by both the prosecution and the defense. Among the topics to be considered are the goals and limits of accounting expertise, the structuring of the engagement to protect privilege and enhance expert testimony, the use of consulting and testifying experts, reliance on experts in presentations to government authorities, evidentiary issues that arise in introducing expert testimony, cross-examination pitfalls with accounting experts. We hope the discussion helps maximize the effectiveness of experts in the resolution of white collar matters where accounting issues/impacts are of particular import.
