2025 Antitrust Spring Meeting

April 2-4, 2025
Washington, DC
IP litigation and damages

Several CRA economists will be speaking at the conference.

Wednesday, April 2 at 10:45am:

Renée Duplantis is a moderator on “Can antitrust fix the wage gap?” and will speak about how competition can lift women’s wages, the impact of unionization for women in the workforce, and the role of markets in which workers or consumers are predominantly women.

Steve Salop is a moderator on “Countervailing monopsony power with joint action?” and will explore and debate the theory and cases on the legality and economic effects of permitting small competitors, such as non-unionized workers, input suppliers, or small customers, to join together to negotiate prices with counterparties that have monopsony (or monopoly) power or dominant bargaining power.

Wednesday, April 2 at 3:30pm:

Archan Ruparel is a panelist on “Pharma under the antitrust microscope,” and will discuss legal and economic aspects of newer, less explored antitrust theories such as alleged harm from reduced innovation, bundled rebates, inappropriate patent listings, and self-preferencing PBM practices.

Thursday, April 3 at 3:30pm:

Elizabeth Bailey and Carl Shapiro are panelists on “Has competition in the US been declining?.” Many believe that the US economy has suffered from widespread decline in competitiveness, measured by increasing concentration or markups. Several economic papers have studied this topic rigorously. What does the empirical evidence show, and what are the implications for antitrust policy?
