Client issue
CRA’s Life Sciences Practice was engaged by a client in Medical Affairs to understand how KOL and PPD-treating physicians’ perceptions of unmet needs, attitudes, screening behaviors, and awareness of new mechanisms of action (MoA) are evolving over time to inform future strategic decision-making and development of Health and Care Professional (HCP) educational tools/resources.

CRA approach
CRA’s Life Sciences experts developed a customized survey tool to track HCP attitudes and test awareness and perceptions over time for target KOLs, general psychiatrists, and OBGYNs identified by our client’s Medical Affairs team. CRA analyzed the evolving beliefs around mechanism of disease, unmet needs, screening, MoA, and other key educational messages across different HCP types. CRA tracked awareness of developing MoAs, optimal patient treatment barriers, and the information sources HCPs are leveraging for scientific information and educational messages on PPD.

Client impact
CRA identified PPD diagnosis and treatment trends, educational gaps on screening, and common patient barriers to care to inform the development of educational material. The data collected was also utilized to help the Medical Affairs team be more strategic in its resource allocation and reporting the importance and impact of their work to senior leadership.
