On 5 October 2023, an investigation was initiated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) into the supply of public cloud infrastructure services in the UK. The investigation follows a referral from Ofcom, which identified potential competition concerns within the cloud services market.
A CRA team led by Mikaël Hervé, Sebastian Panthöfer, Christian Michel, Mariam Arutyunyan, Areen Dakessian, Federico Navarro, and Charles Conquest advised AWS on the matter. The team provided analysis on market dynamics and assessment of competitive effects. The investigation is ongoing, with a statutory deadline set for August 4, 2025.
