On 27 September 2024, following its phase 1 review, the UK Competition and Markets Authority decided to clear the $4bn partnership between Amazon and AI company Anthropic.
In particular, the CMA found that the share of supply test was passed for any description of goods or services, so that the partnership did not create a relevant merger situation in the UK.
A CRA team including Mikaël Hervé, Sebastian Panthöfer, Mariam Arutyunyan, and Federico Navarro advised Amazon on the matter. The CRA team provided supply share estimates and an economic assessment of the competitive effects of the partnership.
