A large datacenter client asked CRA’s team of Energy Practice experts to assess the potential for 24/7 clean generation of their datacenter operations.
CRA proposed a new metric – loss of green hours (LoGH) – and utilized a hour-by-hour optimization to successfully identify the feasibility of a 24/7 portfolio for data center load. As outlined in our recent paper, we found that current renewable technologies alone will not be able to satisfy new data center load effectively, and that investing in first-of-its-kind technologies is a worthwhile investment when considering the strictest LoGH targets.
