FirstEnergy Transmission was selling a minority share in their transmission assets in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Brookfield retained CRA to perform market and regulatory due diligence in support of identifying growth capital opportunities focused on interconnection and deactivation capital.
CRA Energy consultants developed a unique analytical approach to identify growth opportunities using a combination of market modeling and power flow analysis tools. CRA performed scenario analysis and developed a view on upside and downside drivers for the assets with parametrization of the scenario variables based on market, policy, and regulatory drivers. CRA provided support to Brookfield for meetings with FirstEnergy management and providing supporting data and information for investment committee meetings.
CRA’s analytical rigor helped identify compelling growth capex opportunities with cogent arguments for long term value. As a result, Brookfield was successful in their bid for the asset with a strong valuation.
