Assessing techno-commercial readiness, regulatory incentives for hydrogen shipping pathways

Hydrogen ship on water

Situation
CRA was engaged to assess the techno-commercial readiness of various intercontinental hydrogen shipping pathways (such as ammonia and liquid organic hydrogen carriers) and evaluate regulatory regimes incentivizing the development of associated hydrogen shipping infrastructure.

CRA approach
CRA conducted a robust techno-commercial analysis to assess the effective cost and technological readiness of transporting hydrogen via different pathways. We also evaluated how regulatory regimes worldwide serve to incentivize the development of infrastructure in order to move hydrogen between buyer and seller on an intercontinental basis.

Client impact
CRA’s analysis culminated in a detailed report used by the client in discussions with potential off-takers and policymakers to support further commercialization of a hydrogen production project.
