Diana Jackson has advised clients on a wide variety of issues in a range of industries since starting her career as an economic consultant in 1998.
Diana has worked for the merging parties on a large number of mergers before the UK competition authorities, including Jacobs/Wood Nuclear, Sainsbury’s/Asda, Celesio/Sainsbury’s Pharmacies, AAH Pharmaceuticals/ Masta and Sangers, Whittan/Lion, Whittan/Apex, ATOS Medical/Countrywide, Jewson/Build Center, Travis Perkins/BSS, Rough Undertakings Review, Centrica/Lake Acquisitions, Home Retail Group/Focus stores, Pan Fish/Marine Harvest, and Centrica/Rough. She has also advised on many European merger investigations, including INEOS/BP Chemicals Business, Suzano/Fibria, Andromeda/ Nireus/Selonda, Rexam/Ball, ICIG/INEOS Chlorvinyls, INEOS/SolVin, Baxter/Gambro, UPS/TNT, INEOS/BASF Styrolution JV, Unilever/Sara Lee Personal Care, Posten/Post Danmark, INEOS/Kerling, KarstadtQuelle/MyTravel, Andersen/Ernst & Young, GE/Honeywell, and Airtours/First Choice – including on the European Court Appeals of UPS/TNT, GE/Honeywell and Airtours/First Choice. This work has involved unilateral, coordinated and non-horizontal effects, and has covered a broad range of industrial sectors.
Her experience in cases involving existing market power includes several market investigations: most recently the CMA’s investigation into Funerals on behalf of Memoria, the FCA’s investigation into Asset Management on behalf of Schroders, the CMA’s investigation into Energy on behalf of Centrica and Ofgem’s implementation of a domestic energy price cap on behalf of SSE. She has also provided advice in relation to several anti-competitive practices cases (e.g. in relation to excessive pricing in pharmaceuticals, rebate structures in postal services, as well as issues relating to gas flexibility, automotive spare parts, and espresso machines), and studies of the damages resulting from cartels (high voltage underground cables, air freight, GIS, wire harnesses, and synthetic rubber).
She has acted as an economic expert before the UK High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal and appeared as an expert witness before the South African Competition Tribunal and the Swedish Market Court.
